Midigama is a buzzing little surf village and a growing surf destination – with 6 surf spots in close proximity. Due to it’s surf focus the area is quite seasonal, you will find that Nov–April is the busiest time (the smaller guest houses and restaurants will be open) versus the remaining months of the year when some restaurants will be closed. That said, this is changing as tourism grows.
TURN LEFT OUT THE GATE
Manake’s is right next door, small family run restaurant with surf view. Manake can also help you with basic laundry.
Blue Porch is just a little further down and they do affordable lunch and dinner – The Burrito and Shakshuka are two favorites, although they have also added wood fired pizza! Tip: order early and don’t be in a rush – this small restaurant runs very much on island time.
For drinks and a (youngish) social vibe in the evenings you can also head to Cheeky Monkey aka Baba’s Regular Wednesday & Sunday night parties during season (Dec-April) with a large dance floor. Jungalow Tip: Check the board out the front of Cheeky Monkey for the latest events.
Coffee shops Secret Alley & Rock Vin are both less than 200 metres outside the gate. Although our favourite “local” for coffee & brunch is Anja (see below)
TURN RIGHT OUT THE GATE
Rani (Mamas Restaurant) does roti’s in the morning and a curry lunch/buffet. Get there before 10am if you want an egg roti and before 10.30am if you want your roti hot! (Tip: Try the banana & Nutella roti)
Ajna – A little further down you will find Anja, a lovely little cafe/yoga studio with excellent coffees and food. Jungalow Tip: Try the “Beat Pray Love” pancakes – beetroot pancakes with cream, blueberries and pomegranate these are decadent!
Kama – Opposite Ajna is beach bar/restaurant Kama, which is an excellent spot for a sundowner and swim combo. Jungalow Tip: The frozen margaritas are MASSIVE (drink quickly before it melts)
The Surfing Wombats – Just past the clock tower heading inland. Great (Super cheesy) Pizzas and a young social vibe in an outdoor dining area. Jungalow Tip: they offer delivery to Ebb & Flow
