Are you Child Friendly?
This one is rather hard to answer as all parents have different requirements for their little ones. Are babies welcome at Ebb & Flow Jungalows?! – absolutely! and we have no charge for children under 2 years of age. We do have a cot and we also have a high chair.

What is the best time to stay at Ebb & Flow Jungalows?
The best time to visit us at Ebb & Flow Jungalows is November to March.
This is “season” in the south of Sri Lanka and it offers up the most reliable surf conditions and clear sunny weather. November and March are perhaps the best for surf as the swell is large, the conditions are clean and fewer people are in the water.
From a “Weather Perspective” the western and southern areas (eg. Galle, Unawatuna or Midigama) experience their monsoon season during May to September. This is why you will see rates for Ebb & Flow are significantly lower this time of year! The northern and eastern areas (eg.Trincomalee and Arugam Bay) are affected by the monsoon between October to January.
A HEADS UP – don’t be fooled by the word monsoon – in the “monsoon season” you still get weeks without rain and often while the online weather forecast shows 5 days of dark clouds all that really means is a 1 hour shower in the evening or morning here in Midigama where Ebb & Flow Jungalows is based.
Traditionally the recommended time for a Sri Lankan getaway is during either coast’s dry season – April to November for the South East Coast – which is where Ebb and Flow Jungalows are located. Christmas and the New Year are particularly popular times to go to Sri Lanka, while July and August represent festival season on the island. If travelling during either time it is recommended to book well in advance to guarantee accommodation!

Do you rent surfboards?
We have a complimentary board rack available for our Ebb & Flow guests. If you cannot find what you need with us then you can also rent boards in the immediate area as there are not one but six small surf shops that rent surfboards, all a 1-5 minutes walk from Ebb and Flow. Board rental cost around $10 USD a day, however are much more affordable if a longer term rental. If in doubt it always pays to bring your own surf board!
Not sure what to bring, no worries – when you book with us at Ebb & Flow Jungalows we are on hand to answer any questions you might have regarding surf boards, equipment and surf conditions so that you are 100% prepped before you arrive in Sri Lanka
Do you offer surf lessons?
Yes we do arrange surf lessons at Ebb and Flow Jungalows and we partner with some great, experienced local instructors. Once you book our stay with us we can arrange surf lessons for you based on the days and times that work best for you. The rate is 3,000 ($20 USD ) lesson, per person and includes all equipment and transport. This is paid to the instructor directly.
Do you arrange airport transfers?
Yes we do, let us know your flight details, along with what surf boards you might be bringing with you and we can arrange for a pick up in either an air conditioned van or car depending on the needs. The cost is $100 USD and the journey takes 3-4 hours to come to Ebb and Flow Jungalows depending on the time of day!
Are you right on the beach?
Ebb and Flow Jungalows are not right on the beach, although we have designed the Jungalows so you look right into a broad expanse of sea from your open terrace. A vantage point that is much better than many beach front properties (so we have been told!). The Rams surf break is directly out front (NOT for swimming) but 50 metres to your right there is a great protected swimming beach. You are also just 5 minutes tuktuk from sandy/social Weligama or Marissa if you fancy your beach with a bar 😉
Do I need a Visa?
Yes, you will need a visa to enter Sri Lanka.
With the exception of citizens of The Republic of Singapore and The Republic of Maldives, all other guests are required to obtain an ETA to visit Sri Lanka.
It is fast and convenient just to put in an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) prior to arrival. While in some cases you can simply pay on arrival it will save you waiting in a line or any unexpected hassle! You can find out all the information you need as well as the process to physically apply on this website http://www.eta.gov.lk/slvisa/

Your breakfast is included in your night rate at Ebb and Flow Jungalows. For other meals you have a “Jungalow chef” (he might be all to yourselves or you might have to share him with the other jungalow). He can prepare delicious meals as per your request and you simply need to cover the cost of the ingredients and any transport to get fresh ingredients.
